Omigosh!

I totally forgot one of the MOST important things we did last week in Illinois! We got to meet...

Stulie's new babies!!!

Winona and Dashiell Vanorny were born via scheduled Caesarean section on Friday, 7/6/07 at 9:39 and 9:40 AM, respectively. They were 6 lbs, 2 oz, and 6 lbs, 4 oz, respectively, and were 18 or 19ish inches long. Not too shabby for twins!

Here's the best part: Winona looks just like Stu. Blonde hair, Stu's nose and small mouth. And Dash looks exactly like Julie: black hair, full lips and a wonderful scrunchy face. Not that Julie ever looks scrunchy! :) We got to see them when they were only like 6 hours old and it was totally awesome to hold the kids and be with this brand-new little family. Julie was doing great and Stu was totally blissed-out. It was great to be able to be there.

Congratulations Julie and Stu! Hope you read this some day, you super-lazy blog-abstainers.

Hey, Meg, thanks for the shout out. Let me give your audience an update on the kids because I'm sure they are dying for more information. I mean, seriously, who doesn't love to hear about the minutiae of other people's kids?

So, on to the update. Winona has become one big hiccup. It's almost a guarantee that she'll get them after she eats. It is this trait that has earned her the moniker of "Our Little Hiccup."

Oddly, enough, at two months, she's taller than Dash (by a half an inch), but she's about a pound lighter. If you pick them up concurrently, you'd swear she weighed less. Oh, and she's very dainty and feminine. This is probably more apparent because we can put both kids side-by-side, but it doesn't make it any less true.

Now, let's talk about Dashiell. He's lost most of the hair with which he was born. I know that Winona supposedly looks like me, but Dash has my receding hairline.

Dashiell's smile will light up the room. He has this way of smiling with his whole body that makes everyone his friend. He also has these pudgy cheeks that are reminiscent of her mom. The next time you see him, I dare you not to pinch them!

Okay, that's it for now. If you want more information, go to my blog at...wait a minute, I don't have a blog.
